June 21, 2010 - LEAD-ECI, East Central Indianas Leadership Development Institute, recently announced that it has changed the name of its primary leadership program offering (formerly known as LEAD) to Emergence: Personal Foundations of Effective Leadership.
The programs content, facilitators, and structure however will remain largely the same. The name change was made to differentiate the Emergence program from other leadership training courses in the state as well as from the similar LEAD-ECI organization name.
Additionally, LEAD-ECI Executive Director Richard Crist believes that
Emergence better describes the programs purpose: LEAD-ECIs programming is not designed to be an end in itself. Rather, we hope our programs, specifically
Emergence, propel our alumni to become leaders and forces for change within the communities they represent.
Over 130 graduates have completed the program in just the past few years. The fall 2010 session of
Emergence begins on September 8th and concludes on October 27

LEAD-ECI is a free-standing leadership institute and a registered 501(c)(3) organization where people of all ages, backgrounds and interests can access the tools necessary to develop and/or enhance leadership skills. The organization grew out of an identified need to grow, nurture and sustain leadership for the benefit of East Central Indiana. LEAD-ECI is headquartered at the Innovation Connector facility in Muncie, Indiana.
